OUR FAQ

There Are Donation Center Can Do Every Question.

  • What does a Medical Oncologist do?

A Medical Oncologist is a cancer specialist who diagnoses, treats, and manages cancer using medicines such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy. Unlike surgical oncologists or radiation oncologists, a medical oncologist primarily uses drug-based therapies to treat cancer. They also guide patients throughout the treatment journey, monitor progress, and provide supportive and palliative care.

  • How are chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy different?

Chemotherapy works by destroying fast-growing cancer cells but can sometimes affect normal cells too, which is why patients may experience side effects like hair loss or nausea. Immunotherapy, on the other hand, stimulates the body’s own immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells, making it more specific and often better tolerated. Targeted therapy is even more precise, as it directly attacks certain genes, proteins, or pathways that cancer cells depend on, thereby sparing most healthy cells and reducing unnecessary side effects.

  • What types of cancers do you treat?

Dr. Prabhat Ranjan provides treatment for a wide range of cancers including breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, gastrointestinal cancers like stomach, colon, and pancreatic cancers, gynecological cancers such as ovarian and cervical cancer, prostate and urinary cancers, as well as blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. He also manages cancers in children and provides comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for each case.

  • What procedures are commonly performed by you?

Apart from drug-based therapies, Dr. Ranjan regularly performs diagnostic and supportive procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, which help in diagnosing blood-related cancers, pleural tapping to remove excess fluid around the lungs, and lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy to deliver medicines directly into the spinal fluid when required. These procedures not only help in diagnosis but also in better management of cancer-related complications.
